Direct roundtrip flight from Jamaica to Africa in March

Following on the success of the first ever non-stop flight from Nigeria to Jamaica last month, the company behind the historic initiative has organised another trip from the mother continent to the island that promises to be even better. Elizabeth Agboola, CEO and founder of travel company Nigerians Travel Too, told Loop News that the March 30 Air Peace flight to Jamaica will begin in Lagos, Nigeria before stopping in Ghana for more passengers.

Jamaica ‘Next Big Thing’ for Nigerian tourists

Jamaica is being hailed as “the next big thing” for Nigerian tourists by that country’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Hon. Geoffrey Onyeama, following the arrival of the first non-stop flight from Nigeria to Jamaica, which touched down at the Sangster International Airport last night (December 21). “We really expect to see it (tourism) take off in a big way,” said Minister Onyeama, who was among some 140 passengers on the inaugural flight, which landed just after 10:00 p.m. and was welcomed with two jet streams creating a water arc, as the vessel cruised towards the terminal building. The Nigerian Foreign Affairs Minister said in that region of the world there was familiarity with Brazil, which has a large Nigerian population, but “we believe that Jamaica is the next big thing for us as far as tourism is concerned.”

American Airlines Planning Pre-Flight Testing for Jamaica, The Bahamas

American Airlines is planning to launch pre-flight COVID-19 testing on certain flights in the Caribbean region. The plan will begin with preflight COVID-19 testing for customers traveling to Jamaica and The Bahamas. Jamaica will be the first destination, with American Airlines having reached an agreement with Jamaica to launch an initial testing program at Miami International Airport next month. The initial phase of that program will be for Jamaican residents traveling home. If a passenger tests negative for COVID-19 ahead of flying with America, the current 14-day quarantine in place for returning Jamaican nationals would be waived.
